Can i work if my mom is on section 8?

Hi my mother cannot work and is on section 8. I am 17 living with her, I am still going to school,but it is summer. A friend of ours offered me a job i will make 9.50 an hr at a fish smoking place. Would this affect any thing or am i able to work freely until 18.
